JERSEY CITY, NJ (GovWire) - During a meeting of the Jersey City Board of Education on November 13th, 2023, board members, administration, and teaching staff discussed their recent participation in a series of training workshops to enhance their skills and qualifications to better serve their students. The workshops covered a wide range of topics, including data analysis, ethics, legal issues, capital projects, and firearms safety.

"Just to illustrate the kind of workshops that my colleague and I were able to learn from, some of the lectures included, but were not limited to topics such as how to use data analysis to boost student achievement, ethical mine fields for board members and relevant school ethics Commission case studies," said Speaker 1.

The training also included a keynote presentation by the Acting Commissioner of Education, Doctor Ellen McMillan, and a legislative panel with state senators discussing the future of the New Jersey School funding Formula.

"I wish I could say that those conversations made me hopeful about our school funding prospects. As far as the state government is concerned. But it yet again reinforced the need for us to stay diligent and committed to good fiscal planning with the help of our business administrator as we contemplate the next full year's budget," said Speaker 1.

The training was well received by the board members, who expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to enhance their qualifications. "I want to thank my board colleagues for your dedication and participating in training and going above and beyond to enhance your qualifications. It speaks volumes about your commitment to the job and I thank you," said Speaker 1.

The Jersey City Board of Education remains committed to providing quality education to its students and will continue to participate in training and development opportunities to achieve this goal.
